These bears aren’t stopping for anything, and when I mean bears, I mean Minus the Bear. They’ve been touring consecutively for 10 years; And in between tours, they’re working hard to make more music and to play new stuff for everyone to enjoy. I once tweeted to Erin Tate, the drummer for MTB, @erindavidtate do you ever get a vacation?
He responded @whiteshroud haven’t taken more than a week off (including holiday’s) in almost 10 years.
What we know of right now is that they are still recording demos for new songs. But they’re really super busy celebrating their 10th year anniversary of being together. They’re out touring right now to major cities, and just recently came here to Detroit, and played at St. Andrews. This isn’t their first time playing at St. Andrews, they have great shows there and that’s probably why they came back.
There’s a lot of merch on tour right now with limited edition re-pressed vinyl of their EPs like ‘Highly Refined Pirates’ and ‘This Is What I know About Being Gigantic’. They also have some limited edition cassette tapes of these albums!
A great thing they’re doing is hooking people up on twitter by giving people a word or code to tell to the merch guy right before a show and their fans are able to grab free stuff, such as braceletes and whatnot.
I believe this tour is probably the most fun tour that they’ve had, there are lots more people showing up to each tour they have. This one is just extra special because it counts the 10 year anniversary of them beginning in 2001.
I can only tell you this, if you missed out or if you’re going to miss out on their tour this year, you’re going to regret it. So many great songs from old to new are being played. A wide variety of songs, especially from the first EP to the more recognizable albums that they have released. I danced the whole set, and instantly regretted it the next morning when my neck was stiff and woke up sore. But it was all worth the fun because a band like this doesn’t come around here that often.
Check out their encore here, and photos are coming up soon!
We interviewed Alex from Rubblebucket and we talk briefly about the Electric Forest, how it went for them, and will they return to next year’s adventures in the forest.
We spoke about the electronic music scene and how dub step is changing the scene, and Alex explains how he can appreciate the dj scene more by being around it and thinking about incorporating more electronic with Rubblebucket’s music.
We get the story on how Rubblebucket became and what they’re in for this summer. Alex spoke to us during his time on the road heading to D.C for a show. We learn quickly that they are not just doing shows but they’re also playing tons of festivals as well.
Check out their new album that just came out, June 7th, Omega La La
via Sin Duda Records. The album was recorded at Plantain/DFA Studios and finds the band collaborating for the first time with legendary producer/mixerEric Broucek (LCD Soundsystem, Cut Copy, Hercules and Love Affair) for the Brooklyn eight piece’s most adventurous record yet.
In honor of the band’s new album, Rubblebucket has made “Silly Fathers” available for free download here. The band is also heading out on an extensive North American spring tour, including performances at the Joshua Tree Music Festival and Floyd Fest. See full tour dates below.
